iOS Game Review: Horizon Chase
If you’re a fan of old school racing games from the ’90s, then you have got to check out Horizon Chase by Aquiris Game Studio ($2.99). An amazing arcade-style racing game packaged neatly with stunning visuals and a retro-style soundtrack. Delivering a modern spin on old-school racers like Out Run and Top Gear is giving us fond reminders of our NES days.
With support for MFi gamepads and responsive controls its really easy to place yourself in the drivers seat. Once you’ve started to get a feel for the simplistic (yet addictive) gameplay there are 8 challenge cups for you to pursue. Each of which take place in a different country resulting in some great varying scenery. Tracks feature diverse weather changes and daylight cycles. With all this variation you can look forward to 73 tracks to push your pocket racer to the limit.
Just like the environments the cars are visually pleasing modeled on popular modern-day sports cars. As you complete cup challenges and bonus runs you’ll unlock extra cars and upgrades throughout the game.
Although the controls may appear simple it really is challenging to master. Delivering a clean racing line while avoiding walls and maintaining speed can be a daunting and rewarding challenge. Further into the game you’ll be challenging yourself further, looking for just the right moment to hit your nitros.
So, if you’re looking to some fast-paced fun while stuck on the bus or any other dull life moment go check out Horizon Chase.
